What this means for you
KrokFin is an educational site about investing and personal finance. It is not an account-based product, a brokerage service, or a payments platform, so we currently collect very little data.
In short:
- you can read the site without creating an account;
- we do not ask for your name, phone number, or email address for normal site use;
- analytics only turns on after you agree to analytics cookies;
- we do not use your data for advertising and we do not sell it to third parties.
What data we may receive
If you allow analytics cookies, we may receive aggregated information about how the site is used, such as:
- which pages and topics are viewed most often;
- which tools people open;
- whether visitors use the site search.
We use this information in an aggregated form to improve the site's content, structure, and navigation.
What we do not currently collect
As part of normal use of KrokFin, we do not currently collect:
- names;
- email addresses;
- phone numbers;
- payment details;
- account data, because the site does not have registration or a personal dashboard.
When analytics runs
Analytics only starts after your explicit consent to analytics cookies. If you decline, the site still works, but we do not receive the related aggregated usage data.
You can change your choice at any time through the cookie settings button in the footer.
Why we use this data
If analytics is allowed, we use it only to:
- understand which materials help readers most;
- improve the site's structure and navigation;
- decide which topics and tools to develop further.
We do not use this data for personalized advertising and we do not sell it to third parties.
How long data may be kept
Analytics data may be kept for a limited period based on the settings of the analytics platform. We do not keep it longer than needed to analyze and improve the site.
Your choice
You decide whether to allow analytics cookies. If you do not want analytics to run, simply decline it in the cookie banner or change your choice later from the footer button.
Krokfolio: your portfolio stays on your device
Krokfolio, the planner at /portfolio/, runs entirely in your browser. What you enter (holdings, loans, plan and scenarios) is stored in your browser on your device, and you can protect it with a password. We have no accounts and no server that receives it, and it is not part of the analytics described above.
Krokfolio makes two kinds of requests to other services. Both are sent by your browser straight to the provider, not through KrokFin.
- Exchange rates. To convert between currencies, and to apply the Ukrainian tax rules' hryvnia thresholds when your plan is in another currency, Krokfolio asks open.er-api.com for rates. The request contains only your base-currency code, for example EUR. The rates are kept in your browser for about an hour.
- Live prices (optional, off by default). Only if you turn on Live prices in the Krokfolio menu, Krokfolio asks CoinGecko for crypto prices and, only if you enter your own Alpha Vantage API key, Alpha Vantage for stock and fund prices. These requests contain only ticker symbols, currency codes and, if you entered one, your own API key for that provider. Quantities, values, cost basis, names, notes and your plan never leave your device. Turning Live prices off stops the requests and clears the saved prices.
Like any website you open, these providers can see your IP address and the time of the request, and their own privacy policies apply to what they receive. Krokfolio sends these requests without cookies. If you enter an API key, it is saved inside your portfolio on your device, and it is encrypted only if you protect that portfolio with a password. Files you export from Krokfolio never contain it.

We may update this page if the site changes or if our approach to data use changes. The current version will always be available here.
